It takes two to metro.

It takes too the metro
Like you paid a mugger to go
the whole hog including the postage
And rape you
Just like a transgression digs up and dyes
More biophily than it sows

What you lose on the escalator alligator
Gets trashed to bits in the tunnel
By an incey wincey spider or a teddy bear
Crawling along the rails looking for contact lenses,
the scent of a woman
Or meat but never fear
Incey wincey anyway is made of glass and metal
Burnt white coldness mints her spark
Electro frosted cloud bursts of attrition
Hit and run her down like scythes
She is the epiphany you tilled my friend
But death does not descend
She is the epitome of the journey
Which has no middle
Whose beginning is forever a riddle
Whose sequels are without end
Don’t put nowhere never nothing in a re-run
This time it’s only a film called the snake with diamond eyes
No-one really lives and no-one really dies
A lesser known fact which despite the paradox
which grips you dear spectator
She almost always seems to realise
Aesthetics transcend us
One grain of beauty manifested itself just once
Into this day and this night of never in vermillion
Into this desert of a squillion flies
If you don’t believe me ask the comet or a tsar
Looking down on us from de nerval’s gutter
as they are Oscar, as they are
Winking their flirty lashes in the sewer
Or bouncing along on the end of a hedgehog’s India rubber nose

The gutter the sewer where piano string grows
And rings with accompanying sonnets
The place where infidels sing lyrics of blood
across rivers of vomit
As if the earth is an ashtray and the sun drips upon it
The sun the moon the earth the metro
Carry me on with a wing flick of thought
Escalating cloudwards engendering chucks of molten rain
Which appear to roll beadily like flakes of cheap gilt
Down the sun tanned nose and cheeks and chin
Of a scowling young woman
Lovelier than paradise or a bird of solomon
Contemplating the racket and spectacle
Cold love in a tunnel.
