Nice. Nice. Nice.

The great smell of prostitute in my nostrils
Clinging like a mouldy ghost
Vodka spukes my blastred tonsils
And my pancreas has burst

Another night out in holy hatred
Another day spent in lambastation
Another nail whacked in a soul that's sacred
Another dank splatch of misery

The waste of lime that masks my poison
Sugaring this cankered throat
Another dead friend in an Ipswich hostel
About to descend in a pine raincoat
Another shot lung in a bed of sewage
Suffering like the Christ of Knightsbridge
Sucking on his lighter fluid
While someone snicks his vital light switch

Coulda been his angel I s'ppose
"hey man, get up from your park bench
and walk to the offie"
But I lied and said I had peripheral neuritis
in my toes
so all i got was a big fat nothing toffee

So the night wound up as the pitch grew black
Riding on dope for critical solace
When all I got was my suffering back
Another life lesson from loath yourself college

For the sake of your health for the kids for the future
Don't look back like Orpheus did
For a smoke for a fuck for a drink won't suture
The Fisher King Wound if it's self inflicted

Why would I swap what I got for a bevy
Or a hit or a trip or a bucket of dreams?
When I got what I got from taking it steady
And I know what I want and I know what it means

To go through the door of the said obsessive
Where blind dead children lurk unloved
Now I know what I want and I know how to get it
But I can't control this tunnel of clots

So I walk by the river in a glimmer of moonshine
Where my wet red boots look like brand new
And they'll take me home and I hope I'm in time
Because I want what's ‘nice’ and I want what's true
And I don’t want lice
And I don’t want clues
To the murder in the barn in the fort in the office
And I’ll change my name to Delores Morris
Because the river is blank
And the windmill thin
And you’ll walk the plank if you don’t fall in
Because the universe only works if Time
has 11 dimensions made of string
but I could be wrong about that
because I’m really very very dim.

False end.

End.
