the bee and the blossom

The bee and the blossom
The nectar and honey
The hair on his legs
All covered in pollen
So sticky and swollen
His tongue licks her warren
Combing her stamen
With delicate spit
This is eternal
This confluent act
Of intimate consolation

God gave us flowers
And God gave us bees
God gave us perfume
And petals to lick
God gave us pollen
And honey and sweetness
God gave us muscles
To buzz in the breeze

Which came first
The petal or the perfume?
Which comes next
The clover or the drone?
Which is best
To be the lover or the fool?
To have the iron will to bathe alone
In the drowsy scent of spring arousal?

Seems to me it’s meant to be
This balance of thirst
Between the rose and the bee
Seems to me it’s a natural song
With a beautiful tune
This perfumed craving
Which swims with the moon.
