All's not fair in love and war

It's not fair
To live with someone
Human soul
Passionate driven
Hopes and needs
You're a shadow
Gaunt and Sloven
You haunt their fullness
Arrogant stranger
Shedding crumbs
Nothing sweet

She can see you
Your decay
Your dust
Your inadequacy
Your triviality
You can't keep up
the hot pretense
Being good
Not eating beans
Paying attention
To her needs

Intimate failings
Cascade like ants
In a summer storm
It's not fair
to keep her waiting
Like a parrot
In your cage
Of gilded effrontery
Dirty floor
All that rot
In your stillness
Cold deceit
Why do we need
To share a toilet

It's not fair you know
More foul and horrid
To live with someone
Who wants to fly free
When you're living without love
With someone as lurid
And coarse as me.
