The man who loved the world

The man who loved the world
The world, the flesh, the rebel
Like some Basil Brush
He's a little devil
The man who loved the world
For all her gory blather
Lightning balls and pop sox
Unconscious pall of atoms

Loved her for her twists
Loved her course unwhirled
Happy is he happy is he
Who loves this broken world

Do you not hope
That one day
you'll too love this gem
With her veins of crystal
And her diadem
Smokey as a whistle
Glittering like a petal
In a storm of thunder
Glistening like a spider
Waiting in her trap
She is microscopic
He's her keystone cop
Radiant and hypnotic
Running like a blot

This is the way his love works
Like a brand new T-shirt
cowpats love exhausted dirt
Like the gloss on a ladybird
Even the wind is listening
Magnets kiss by accident
Copper wardrobe never never
Sherlock Holmes investigate

This is the way the world flows
On a magic lavish wave
Takes some nerve to love it
Gotta be lonely lost and brave

The man who loved the world
The world, the flesh, the rebel
Like some Basil brush
He's a little devil
The man who loved the world
For all her gory blather
Lightning balls and hot rocks
A pall of monstrous atoms

Love her for her twists
Love her course unfurled
Happy is he happy is he
Who loves this brilliant world.
